Out of Touch

Now that Ryan is older and doesn't really demand quite as much close 24/7 attention I'm beginning to realize some things. For one thing I have no idea what's going on with my old friends. You know the ones you don't see a lot, but you were really close at one time. Since when I started my adult life I moved to another state I have several of those. Three of my friends are getting married. I have not even met 2 of their fiances. I found out about two of the weddings from a friend. It's very sad to me because these people really meant something to me and I have totally lost touch. I guess it's partly because of getting married and not knowing how to balance spending time with my new hubby and keeping in touch with old friends and partly due to Ryan's birth and babyhood taking so much focus. I'm just feeling a little sad and out of the loop with everyone and I'm not sure how to get back into the loop:-(

Zach's Birthday

I put together some clips from Zach's birthday if you want to check them out. Sorry, it's kind of big.

What do I do with this?!

Ryan started this climbing thing. He climbs on anything and everything including people. It's downright scary for me. We've already visited the ER because a chair he was climbing on tipped over and he busted his lip. It turned out that he didn't need stitches, but it really bled a lot. His latest feat is one of his push toys.

He climbs to the top and perches there. If I remove him I am subject to screams of horror and discontent. If I let him do it I nearly have a heart attack at the least little mis-step. He seems to be just fine up there and the toy hasn't shown any signs of tipping over. It's just a little nerve racking for me.

So, what do I do with this little adventurer? My parents let me climb behind water falls, climb up mountains, flip into pools, play neighborhood baseball and football(without protective gear), hang glide and countless other dangerous activities and I'm still here and well. How did they do it?! I'm going crazy here and my kid is only a foot and a half off the ground! Maybe I should just loosen up and reserve a spot at the local ER .

Our New Years Day

Today was an amazingly nice day for the middle of winter! Uncle Ben came over and we all went for a bike ride. Ryan was very excited to go he hopped right into his little trailer and waited for everyone else to be ready. Isn't he cute with his huge helmet?! I swear it's the toddler size. It just looks big.

Then we came home and ate dinner. We played a little Balloon Lagoon with Zach. It actually manages to be fun for adults while easy enough for kids. That's the mark of a truly great children's game in my book! Jay won and I came in last ::sigh::
Then the boys played with this really cool truck and car set Ryan got for Christmas.

After the truck Zach got out his tops from Grandma and Chief(at Jay's prompting) and they played until bedtime. I think Jay and Ben might continue to play after bedtime.

Happy New Year!

I'm so glad to have an end to all the craziness. I love Christmas and I even like getting together with friends and family, but by the end I feel just a little overwhelmed by it all. Last night we had Tom, Erin and baby Ben over for a "we can't afford to lose sleep staying up until midnight because we have babies, so we are going to have an afternoon/evening" party. It was nice to get to see them. I did however much overestimate our ability to play adult games with the toddlers around. Oh well. I just hope everyone else wasn't too disappointed. I thought the boys would have more in common now that they both "get things" more. They did have some cute moments and some "conversation". Ryan was a little less than generous with his toys. At one point he threw himself across a play table to keep Ben from playing with it. ::how embarrassing:: Erin and Tom seemed to take it all well; cracking his selfishness and other bad behaviors up to toddlerhood. I'm so glad to have such understanding friends! I was glad to have them over. We don't get to see them enough. It's great for us because they have a baby roughly the same age(when they get older they won't even know the difference), Erin and I are good friends and Tom and Jay get along really well. It's all worked out rather nicely if you ask me. Now I just have to convince them to buy the house for sale across the street and I-er-a We will be all set;-)
