Have you ever heard the mom or dad of a newborn tell you that old line about 'sleeping like a baby' isn't true? I would have been the first to tell you this for the past year and 8 months. Until today. I'm hear to tell you folks that it just might be based in truth. Yes babies wake up every few hours, but when they are out- they are OUT.
I was vacuuming upstairs toward the end of nap time, so I decided to go into Ryan's room and give it a once over since it is the least vacuumed room in the house. I just knew he would wake up screaming because he HATES the vacuum. I thought well if I get any at all done it's better than nothing and if he wakes up it's the end of nap time anyway. So I went in and vacuumed his entire room and he didn't budge. He slept right through the whole thing. This boy will hear me running the vacuum from downstairs, run up where I am and scream with his arms in the air until I turn off the vacuum and pick him up. I'm not sure why the vacuum scares him so much. He couldn't wait to get his hands on the drill when daddy was using it and he was very intrigued by the power saw grandpa was using, but the vacuum scares him to death. Just like a man;-)
So, apparently Ryan can sleep through a hurricane. I guess this means Ryan's room doesn't have to go unvacuumed until a time when he isn't home and I am anymore. Phew!

Tagged Again
I have to say I find this tag a little ordinary, along the lines of what's your sign and favorite color(sorry if you wrote it, I don't mean to offend). So I am going to be a bit of a party pooper here. I'll do the questions so as not to completely ruin the party, but I'm not going to tag anyone else. If you read my blog and would really like to be tagged to do this game be my guest. If you let me know I'll even officially tag you.
1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video: including my Disney collection, which in itself numbers over 50, I'd have to guess about 100.
2) The last film I bought: My hubby does most of the movie buying in our house, but the last one that *I* bought as probably Baby Shakespeare
3) The last film I watched: National Treasure on DVD, of course, because I don't think I've been to a movie theater since before Ryan was born.
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me: Singin' in the Rain, Newsies, name a Disney movie, While You were Sleeping, Dude Where's My Car (I watch this when I just want to laugh)
I really liked the other tag game better. It gives you a chance to get more creative.
Okay and let's be honest. I don't have 6 bloggy friends who have not been tagged.

Inspired-*edited*
Inspired by Leslie's most recent post about finding time for everything I am going to be limiting my time for blogging. This shouldn't affect my posts too much since most of my blog time is spent reading other people's blogs. I think I am relying too much on reading about what other people are doing for my adult interaction. I get super disappointed when there are no updates since I read last, but I'm drawn to my computer way too easily to check. Then I'm checking everyone's blog hoping that they updated. It's time for me to get back to basics people. I'm going to make use of that old fashioned device where you punch in numbers and a person is actually at the other end! Maybe I'll even be able to think about something interesting to say. Okay I'm not asking for miracles here, just interaction. I figure if I limit my blog time and actually talk to people that might free up my hands to do more around the house. Maybe one day I'll even be able to invite people over without embarrassment! There I go again, hoping for miracles...I guess it can't hurt to dream, eh.
I know I need to seek out some more "real" adult interaction. It's hard because when I am with adults I often don't really feel like I'm really there because I always have to keep my eye on Ryan. Like this morning my small group met one last time before our summer break, but I missed lots of the conversation because I was going in the other room so often trying to stop Hurricane Ryan from destroying the house. I've found that play dates are a fairly good solution because everyone has something to do and we can hang out right with the kids if we need to. I'm really excited I've found a new play buddy for Ryan with older siblings about Zach's age. Zach gets along with just about anyone, so I have no worries that he will be able to play well with them. Plus I really like his buddy's mom. She is in my small group. So, here's to playmates for Ryan, Zach and ME:-)
*I'm not doing very well. It's cold and dreary outside, I'm tired and I'm BORED. Ugh, Dr. Phil would say, "Bored people are boring." Maybe this bored person is just too tired to muster up the energy to do anything productive. Then again, maybe I'm just boring like the ol' doc says. I think I am going to bed at 8:01-right after the boys are in bed!*

Sesame Street Fun
Today Ryan and I spent some time counting with The Count, finding shapes with Zoe and playing journey to Ernie with Big Bird and Ernie on the PBS Kids Sesame Street web site. We even printed out Ryan's name to color and put in his room. The pages are only up with double stick tape, so we'll see how long it lasts. It was fun though. After I hung them up Ryan would go down the line pointing and saying- R-Y-A-N and sometimes adding the character's names. He does think that Big Bird's name is Ernie. I guess he just thinks there are two Ernies because he knows Ernie. I'm pretty sure it is because of the Journey to Ernie game that Big Bird always plays.
R-Y-A-N

I really like that I can spend my morning in pjs playing with my Monkey. What a cool job I have:-)

Turnabout is Fair Play
So If you read my comments Thursday you saw the story about my dolphin petting experience. When I graduated from high school Christina gave me a sketchbook of memories. Most are also meant in a playful teasing way. The "copyright" page says, "All people places and situations in this book are absolutely true and may be used against Carrie-lyn(that's what she calls me) at any time for amusement, revenge, blackmail, etc." I'm sure that gives you an idea of the content. Most of the memories are stick figure drawings with some kind of explanation. This is one of the very few pictures in there.
"I'm gonna pet a dolphin!"

This was on the page before the dolphin picture. It's a cartoon of the two of us on the bus ride from Virginia to Baltimore. If you can't tell that's Christina saying, "Oh look, It's a miniature Washington Monument!" To my recollection she said miniature pencil, but it was a long time ago. I guess she didn't realize we would be passing WASHINGTON DC between VA and MD.
