Scrapbooking
I spent some time scrapbooking today. It's great now that Ryan takes pretty regular 2 hour naps I can do things I enjoy again:) I like the pages I've done so far. I'm excited to show it to people. The first couple pages came pretty easily. I'm having trouble coming up with something for the pages I want to do next. Maybe some inspiration will hit me over night. Maybe I'll even get time to work on it over the weekend...Dare I dream?! Well, it's late and the morning starts awfully early around here. Bye for now.
Jinkies!
I have a theory on getting Ryan to sleep through the night!!! Two nights in the past week Ryan slept at least 8 hours without waking. I racked my brain trying to figure out what those two days had in common. I went over his feeding schedule, nap times, what he ate and anything else I could think of that could possibly duplicate this phenomenon. It hit me yesterday that his second nap had only been one hour both days. The first day he went down late and woke up himself after an hour and the second time we woke him up to go to dinner at Jay's parent's house. Yesterday I woke him up after an hour. He wasn't too happy about it for a minute or so, but he cheered up pretty quickly. Last night he went down around 9 and woke up just before 5 to eat and went back to sleep until 7:30! During the night I heard him cry very briefly twice, but he got himself back to sleep. He even woke up happy:) Success!!!

Quiet Time
Ahhh...I just got back from Bible study and the kids are in bed. Jay is upstairs watching a movie. Everything is so quiet! It's wonderful. I miss quiet. I love my Bible study night. It's great to get out by myself and talk to other women.
Tonight was a good meeting. We are doing a study on James. The main idea was to rejoice in your trials because you know God is growing you somehow. He has a plan! I really benefited greatly tonight. God is good! He is showing me areas I need to grow in and pointing out the ways he has been trying to teach me. The women in my group are amazing. One in particular leaps to mind. She lost a baby earlier this year and the way she sees it as a blessing to even have held her child. How she finds comfort in the Word in her grief. I find her so inspirational. I think I'm going to go use some of my quiet time to do some scrapbooking:)

Aunt Bee's visit
Elizabee came by to visit today. It was nice to have some adult conversation. She played with the boys for a while too, of course. She left a little while ago to be home when her new hubby, John, gets home from teaching. She's such a cute newlywed:)
We had a pretty good day today. Ryan didn't wake up for the day before six today. He had done that for the past few days...it was NOT fun. I was so excited last week when he slept from 8PM-5:30AM without waking once...I thought we were turning a corner in his sleep habits. I was mistaken:( Maybe it's a start though. He's having all sorts of milestones lately. He's sitting on his own, pulling up and cruising now. And still babbling up a storm. He's so much fun.
Erin came over with baby Ben the other day. He's two months old. I remember the days when Ryan seemed to mold to my body like play dough fondly. He was so small and adorable, just like Ben is now. I didn't think it could get any better. Now he's still cute as can be, but much more interactive. When he puts his head on my shoulder and arms around me it makes me melt. His little cuddles are the best. They grow up so fast. It's amazing that two babies who seem so different now will not even notice the six months that separate them in a couple years.
Here is a picture of them on their "play date".

Who I am now...
This may be repetitive for some people who I've kept in better touch with over the years, but I think some people might learn new things here. I now go by Jen Dunning, formerly Carolyn Jennifer Scheide and many derivatives thereof. I decided to go by my middle name just after college because it feels more like me(and because I wouldn't have to correct the teachers any more). I have always gone by Jen with family and friends that I didn't meet in school. I married Jay Dunning 2 years ago and all together that gives us the aforementioned Jen Dunning:) That seems like a lot to explain a name...oh well.
Jay and I have 2 little boys. Zach, my stepson, is 5. He will start kindergarten in the fall. Ryan is 9 months old as of last Saturday and cute as can be. We have one dog now, Daisy. She is an Australian Shepherd. We are living in Bel Air, Maryland. We love it here. There is a great family feel to the area. We found a great church about 15 minutes away. We're settling in quite nicely.
My parents are stationed in Belgium now and having the time of their lives touring Europe. My brother, T.J., is in the Air Force and stationed in New Mexico...he's not having as much fun there. He likes his job and his buddies though.
Jay has a sister Elizabee. She just got married to John Eugene. He also has a brother, Benjamin, who is in college now. His parents live in Roland Park, Maryland.
I guess that's a very quick catch up to this point.
